On June 25, ECHA added four new candidates to the list of substances of very high concern. iPoint’s systems reacted immediately to the new entries in the SVHC list and are ready for an up-to-date compliance check.
ECHA’s SVHC candidate list now contains 209 entries
The fourth substance, butyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (butylparaben), was added due to its endocrine disrupting properties for human health. It is used in cosmetics, personal care products, and pharmaceutical.
iPoint CSI is ready for Compliance Check
iPoint reacted immediately to the inclusion of the new substances in the SVHC candidate list, updated its systems and prepared them for compliance checks. Our experts entered the new SVHC candidates directly into the rule groups of the iPoint Compliance and Substance Inspector (CSI), which is implemented in iPoint’s products. On July 1, the rule group update was released and is available for compliance testing since then.
SVHC notification to SCIP database
If a substance on the candidate list is present on its own, in mixtures or in articles, companies are obligated to fulfil a number of certain legal requirements.
Any supplier of articles containing an SVHC in a concentration exceeding 0.1% weight by weight must provide sufficient information to his customers and consumers.
From January 2021 onwards, importers and producers of articles containing SVHC who supply within or into the European Union must also notify the ECHA SCIP database in this case.
